A documentary about the changing Icelandic landscape through the eyes of a photographer.
Official Trailer
Synopsis
As climate change shrinks the Icelandic glaciers, a photographer struggles with the impact of his advocacy work. How do we communicate the most critical issue of our time? Follow Donal Boyd on his journey to discover the role of beauty in nature and the implications of the changing landscape around him. Along the way we meet a writer, a glacier guide, scientists, and a lifetime resident living by a glacier, all connected in some way to the disappearing glaciers.
About the Directors
Donal Boyd (wildlife photographer/conservationist) and Frank Nieuwenhuis (cinematographer) have collaborated on several film projects relating to nature and wildlife advocacy. Like their first film, “Volcano for the People” and this documentary, their productions tend to focus on the connection between humans and significant natural events.
Directors Statement
Through the challenges faced by the main character, this film embodies the difficulties that could be faced by anyone who might feel connected to nature but is overwhelmed and struggling to find their own clear role in how to protect nature against the threats of climate change. As depicted by this relatable narrative, we hope to inspire others and especially creatives, artists, and scientists to explore the way in which they express the urgency of the climate crisis through personal accounts. Right now, we need as many people as possible reimagining the issue, owning it, and telling it from their perspective in order for us to overcome humanity's greatest ecological threats.
